The Historic Blue Bell Lofts project received an award of Rental Housing Tax Credits to adaptively reuse the old blue jean factory into 52 apartments for seniors with a mix of 1 and 2-bedroom units.
In the early 1900’s the factory was the largest producer of blue jeans in the world and at their peak employed over 800 workers in Columbia City, Indiana. At the time, the Blue Bell Factory employed almost a third of Columbia City’s entire population. The property has been vacant since an electronic manufacturer moved out just over 10 years ago.
Commonwealth is very excited to renovate and bring back to life such an historic Columbia City landmark! We will keep you posted about opening dates and leasing opportunities.
