Handle a variety of other tasks from time to time including calculations, preliminary concepts, and sketches based on the client’s needs and what is required by code.
Experience: James received his associate’s degree in Architectural Technology in 2017 from Madison College (MATC). His last semester at MATC he made the Dean’s List with a GPA of 3.667. From there, he transferred to the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee and received his Bachelor’s degree in Architecture in 2019. James interned at MSI General, worked for a structural firm for about a year and a half, and is now with M+A Design through The Commonwealth Companies, pursuing his goal of becoming a licensed architect.
Impressive Facts: James always dreamt of becoming an architect, and out of all his jobs, his favorite was building condominiums and apartment complexes. He hopes to take what we learned from construction and implement it into his career in architecture to help solve any issues before they even happen.
Fun Stuff: James loves being creative and doing things like oil painting, landscape design (waterfall/retaining wall), and building models when he was in school. He loves animals and his current companion is a small Shih Tzu he rescued named Izzy, who he considers family. He likes to take her hiking and even on some trails at Devil’s Lake.
Commonwealth is: a place to be greater than oneself where you know your efforts are contributing to a greater cause and a better society. I am proud to be part of a team that focuses on others and treats you like family.

Commonwealth was quick to respond to any need, both large and small, throughout the entire building process. It might sound too good to be true, but all we did was tell them what we wanted and they did it. Very simple and no surprises. It is easy to see why Commonwealth is a rapidly growing company.
