Horicon School Apartments Closing – July 2nd

Category: Community, Development, News

We’re kicking off July with another closing in Wisconsin! Horicon School Apartments is $11.5M development that will provide 40-units of 1, 2, and 3-bedroom homes with the historic adaptive reuse of the prior Van Brunt Elementary School. The property will include a community room, fitness center, business center, and an onsite property management office. We will integrate 8-units of supportive housing that target individuals with disabilities and veterans making at or below 30% of the Area Median Income (AMI). Additionally, the gym will be leased back to the school district for local recreational programming.

A little local history: This project will allow us to preserve the legacy of the elementary school that was originally donated by George Van Brunt, who is responsible for bringing John Deere to Horicon. Through Mr. Van Brunt’s innovative invention of the fluted force feed seeder, he has had a lasting impact on Horicon and is responsible for creating thousands of jobs in the city. We are excited for the opportunity to pair our affordable housing project and the impressive workforce education resources available through John Deere Horicon Works to help play a role in fueling Horicon’s economy for years to come!
