WELCOME AND THANK YOU FROM COMMONWEALTH

Last year marked a special milestone for The Commonwealth Companies – ten years of opening doors.  Commonwealth was established in 2001 as an affordable housing construction and development firm working with the Wisconsin Housing & Economic Development Authority in cooperation with communities to create multi-family housing, and has evolved into much more.

Our current core business includes construction, property management, full service landscaping and maintenance, excavation and earthwork services, as well as development.  We employ 80 people across the state to perform these services.

Commonwealth is a company that has been on the move throughout the state, having been responsible for the construction and development of over twenty projects with a combined value in excess of $147 million.  These projects have included new construction such as the 43,500 square foot state of the art Lenz Sales & Service auto dealership, renovation and rehabilitation of existing structures such as the Rhinelander Housing Authority's 50 unit senior midrise and adaptive reuse of existing buildings such as St. Peter's Church in Fond du Lac to an office building.  We have not just been building projects, we have been building a great reputation for ourselves in the state as evidenced by the company being named the Wisconsin Builder's Association "Developer of the Year" in 2008.

I know for a fact that the key to the company's current success and future success is its employees.  We insist on hiring and retaining the absolute best and brightest in every area and actively look for talent to strengthen our team and create new opportunities.  Senior management includes Brent Schumacher (Senior Vice President - Construction), Marissa Downs (Senior Vice President - Development and Property Management), Rob Hutter (Vice President - Construction), Scott Daugherty (Vice President - Property Management) and Darrel Unsinn (Vice President - Property Management).  Their combined experience represents over 100 years in the business.

Commonwealth always welcomes new business opportunities and relationships and we take great pride in our entrepreneurial spirit.  We believe our size is our competitive advantage.  Small enough to offer superior flexibility for the customer while providing a substantial cost savings over large firms that need to cover huge overhead, yet large enough with the technical expertise and manpower to complete multimillion dollar projects.

We thank you for your support and value your business as we look forward to our next ten years!
